A Vintage Romance

Hard to believe that it's actually February.
I thought I just brought out the new calendar.

It looks like one more holiday will be here with no chance to decorate either house. Nothing like having 2 houses and both of them not in a place that I could put anything other than a bouquet or a box of chocolates. Which by the way, either of those would be fine with me. So instead I'm sharing some past photos for a little Valentine inspiration.

Creating a mini vignette under glass is a fun way to put together a little holiday focal point or centerpiece. A tiny iron urn with a vintage creamer full of roses and a vintage Valentine postcard become elevated and more eye-catching on the Entryway Console.

A fabric rose heart-shaped wreath is usually on the Entry way mirror.

My favorite way to decorate for any holiday is to incorporate vintage pieces to the mix. I do have a few vintage and antique Valentines and some candy boxes, but I like to use some of my collections, especially anything with pink or red and floral. Here I have a pitcher probably from the 40's or 50's with a pastel rose motif, filled with a small bouquet of faux flowers.

The Baker's Rack in the Kitchen Sitting Area
has been a fun place to decorate for holidays.

A small red Toile coverlet always seems to make it into the Valentine decor.

My Moss Covered Heart that I made several years ago, has a Valentine satin ribbon anchoring it to my vintage mirror.

Other vintage pieces that have a romantic vibe can be made a little more "Holiday"
by adding a specialty ribbon.

A Valentine's Day mantel several years ago,
was a way to show off a few of my pastel vintage teapots.

I still have my big paned white chippy window,
which was a versatile backdrop for every holiday grouping.
I'm hoping I can find a spot for it in the new Sun room.

And a little Tag Valentine made with vintage buttons.

Thanks for coming by,
Have a fun weekend!

  1. Hi Debra,
It is hard to believe it is February all ready. It is all good with me that these next few months go quickly and we get into Spring. I am so over this harsh winter. Love all the inspiration here. You are working hard to get the new place already for your move in and hopefully it will be soon.
    Hugs,
    Kris

  7. Debra,
Since studio One is no longer a business, I don't decorate for Valentine's Day.
I use to make many framed "with a vintage flair" creations for $ale. . .
and always depleted my supply to my amazing supporting customers!
Lovely post and amazing vintage Valentine collection!
I adore your red & white transfer ware cup & saucer!
