Fall Decor in the Middle of the Mess

Hi Friends, since this is my favorite time of the year, I'm going to try and share some small posts on Fall. It's a mild form of chaos over here at "Packing Central", but sharing here, and seeing what you all are doing for Fall decor will help me stay somewhat sane.

I have a few pockets of clutter free space that are giving me a little room to scatter some Fall around the house. Last year I purchased the large wreath (below) from Grandinroad and gave it a mini-makeover. The wreath was wonderful, but I wanted to add in some dried hydrangeas, so I snipped a few leaves out and exchanged them with varying hues of faux Autumn Hydrangeas.

Then I added in my brown floral pillows on the wicker settee.
They bring all the colors of Fall together.

The moss covered pumpkin was another purchase from last year. They came as a group of three graduated sizes. It's sitting on an ironstone pedestal vegetable dish with a bed of leaves and Bittersweet.

I think black ticking goes well with just about any other print.
...Plaid, Checks, Florals, and Paisley.

So, this is just a little spot in my Kitchen Sitting Area that I can enjoy while I'm sorting, organizing, and boxing up. I've found a few things that I'd forgotten about, and I'll share some of them soon.

Our heat wave is about to break, with a cool front and some thunderstorms on the way. It's been pretty rough trying to take things to storage when it's in the 90's. My husband is staying vigilant to move out what I pack. I'm working on several fronts at the same time. That may sound disorganized but it keeps me from getting overwhelmed.

We close on the new house next week, and I'm really anxious to see it "naked". It's so hard to get an exact read on room sizes and what needs to be done when you're seeing someone elses furniture and personal items. The current owner has great style, but it's not easy to imagine my own things there. Also, I'll be using several of the rooms for completely different functions than what they are now.

I hope you don't mind little posts with snippets of what I've been up to. I'm just not the kind of blogger that can "disassociate" or compartmentalize my posts just because what I'm up to is a little messy. So, I may be sharing some of the mess.

Have a great weekend, everyone.
I'm hoping you all get some cool air circulating in your area.
That makes playing with pumpkins and mums much more fun!

  3. I love your brown cushions and they coordinate so well with the wreath. I am moving as well, but not until next month. I have been setting up stuff, taking photos, and then packing it all in boxes. I don't know about you, but I will be glad when it is all over and done. Good luck with your move. 1. wow Barbara, that's such a smart idea to take photos of what you're doing. I still have several decor items I haven't located from the last move. I had help, and I think some things just made it into a decor box. But since I haven't opened each one, they've been sitting in the storage unit or basement somewhere. I'm focusing on packing like things this time, not just grabbing stuff and sticking it in a box. yes, I'll be so relieved, but a lot has to be done before we can get there. take care, hope it all goes well!

  4. Packing is so hard and moving too. I love that you are enjoying some fall stuff even with getting ready to move. Excited that you found another home and will close soon on it.

  5. I also love that you are keeping it REAL!!! That's why I love you!! They say tomorrow will be our last 90 degree day and that Fall will be here on Saturday. And it can't come soon enough for me, I'll tell ya all!! It has been the summer from hell and my yard and home show it. A lot of work to do once it is cool enough!!

I moved 20 years ago and there are still boxes in the basement unpacked and have no clue what's in them!! They must belong to my kids who left long ago!!!

Take it easy girl, and get some help on packing, don't overdo it.... I'm excited for you and know it will all fall into place!! xoxoxo

  6. I love that you can find a sweet spot in the middle of your mess. I'm not sure I could do that. I know I didn't during my remodels. Keeping your sanity and keeping it real. I like that winning combination.

  7. Hi Deborah! Wow, you sure do know how to dress up autumn. I love all your touches - and can't believe you found time (and energy) to do all that while in the midst of all you are doing! Yikes!

    Looks good, lady. Hugs. ♥
