Breadboards and Spode Transferware; Snacking in Style

Even though it's been awhile since I've hosted a big Holiday/Family dinner, I do like to have some snacks and drinks ready for the kids when they roll into town. They're usually ready to gnosh on something easy until we all get together to head out for dinner. Cheeses, sausages, breads, crackers, olives and some raw veggies; easy things that don't require seating. Actually we usually just grab a napkin or plate and stand around/and over the spread.

I think a large breadboard to corral it all, keeps it looking good,
and can easily be scooted around the counter or table
 to make room for more goodies and treats.

I found these wonderful Spode salad plates at Tuesday Morning a few weeks ago.
They're perfect for grabbing your food and letting the snacking commence!

Remember when we were making these pastry/cupcake stands
out of random vintage glass candlesticks?
I must have made a half dozen with orphaned plates, salad plates, and saucers.
I still use them when I want to elevate something.

 I don't mind a bit using paper goods like paper plates and napkins;
they're so easy for a quick put-together and clean-up.

 My mom loves to do monograms,
and seasonal tea towels are her specialty.
They make a wonderful hostess gift,
thanks Mom!

The large breadboard was from Antique Farmhouse.
I have another one that is a large rectangle.
I don't use them for direct cutting of bread or meat;
just for food placement and decor.

Thanksgiving will be here before you know it,
Let's make it easy and fun!
Now pass that cheese ball, please!

  1. I'm a huge fan of that type of vignette and decor, and your newfound brown transferware. The fact that it's functional makes it that much better! Love the monogrammed towel your mother made!

  2. Your Mom is talented lady, does she make monograms on sewing machine or hand embroider? Very special towel to cherish.
    Your table looks so casual but quite pretty also. So glad you mentioned where you got lovely Spode dessert plates. Hopefully our Tuesday a.m. will have some. I have no holiday dishware at all so it's time to get a few plates anyway. Hubs doesn't like going there with me as it takes me hours to look at everything, so much eye candy. Have to control myself from buying too much.
    I have a bigger rectangular shaped cutting board was thinking of having hubs cut into a shape but maybe will leave as is. Love your bigger round bread board.
    Have wonderful rest of week and weekend

  3. I love the dishes! You are so right, the holiday is coming so fast I need to nosh to keep my energy up. Love your beautiful fall vignette, looks stunning!

  4. That settles it i'm going back and get the large round bread board I want LOL I just left my favorite store and they had just gotten new round boards in and I almost picked it up and took it to the counter.I will go get it tomorrow
    You always have the best things to show. I have never gone in Tuesday Mornings but what I found a dish I wanted, love your plates

  5. Hello my dear friend what a glorious presentation of beauty. I will be featuring it this week. Have a wonderful day!
