What's on the Sideboard this Month?

My late summer obsession with all things "sunflower"
has also taken over the hallway sideboard...

I found this wonderful vintage look botanical wall hanging at my friend Robin's store, The Vintage Suitcase, and knew it would be perfect hanging from my old window above the sideboard.

I wanted to bring in some deeper colors,
and the black framing of the print plays off the other darker accents.

like this old fruit tray that I found earlier this year.
Looks sorta "Fallish" to me...
(counting down the days)

But the real fun came
when I was able to use a few of my husband's demijohns,
and then two wine bottle crates that I picked up recently
for about $10 each at Relics.

the one above is much smaller, but has a hinged lid.

I thought this soup tureen with the grape design would be fitting in the wine box, also giving it a late summer grape harvest theme. (another almost Fall thought)

It's sitting alongside some sunflowers and black-eyed susans
in an old galvanized florist bucket.

A stack of white ironstone plates atop a platter
and an old carving set make it buffet ready.

(my sweet sis gifted me with the great ruffled ticking tea towel
from Pottery Barn last year)

I had fun bringing this all together,
I think it will stay for awhile...
at least until Pumpkin time.
(please hurry, I'm sick of this summer heat)

  1. Debra, you are starting out with a fabulous sideboard in the first place and then stack it with great finds. The tray is so fun, and so are your (husband's) demijohns.

  2. Your sideboard is a awesome. I have been developing a strong interest in sunflowers lately myself. I always liked them, but never used them much in my decor. But I have sunflowers in my kitchen now.

  8. Debra,
Lovely hanging on your window pane! You sidebar looks as if you're ready for a festive wine & cheese tasting affair! Going through some (Fall) items on the lower level this past week, I spied the gourds and ghost pumpkins...I just had to come upstairs for a while...for fear I'd give in! I'll keep counting the days with you, dear friend!
    Fondly,

  13. It will all transition into fall perfectly...we already have little ripe orange pie pumpkins in our garden! I need to check them out tomorrow... I don't want them to rot out there. I wish they hadn't turned until September.

  16. Imagine my surprise this weekend when we drove past a sunflower patch. Girl...sunflower heads as far as the eye could see. It was all I could do not to climb that fence, but I don't think Mr. Farmer would have appreciated me taking some of his crop!
Love your sideboard and your taste of the grape.

  41. Yup girl, you are so moving into Fall. But you do it oh so well. I have to tell you that I bought that exact botanical print for my youngest daughter when she got married. I saw it and knew she would love it. She is such a nature lover. I would have loved it for myself, but knew it had her name written all over it. I love it on the window. Your entire vignette is wonderful! Thanks for sharing with Share Your Cup!
