Holy Matrimony

Today is our Anniversary and I wanted to share a little of what I did yesterday.
The urge to re-do the hall sideboard got the better of me,
but I'm only showing one shelf of my makeover.

I found this Marriage Certificate from December 30, 1924
and decided it needed to be the focal point for my creative project.

I love old documents, and the graphics and fonts on this are just beautiful.

It makes me a little sad to think this wonderful keepsake found it's way to a flea market.

Still in love all these years later...

Today I'm linking up with Kathleen for White Wednesday

And Marty for Table Top Tuesday

Come join in for
 Vintage Inspiration Friday
I'm showing the rest of my re-do.
(It's a silver extravaganza!)

love you all,
Debra

  7. What a beautiful connection between your special day, Debra, and someone else's years ago. I always have the same sadness and disbelief when I find keepsakes like this, even old photos, abandoned in the flea market. I'm sure we'll all hang on to our important and meaningful documents, but don't you wish they were as pretty as the old ones? Hope you and your hubby have a sweet day together...

  26. Happy Anniversary!! Thanks so much for all your kind encouragement! Nice use of that cool certificate--your display is perfect, as always! (You inspire me to try to train my eye to seek those small treasures when pickin'----I always focus on the big stuff)

  27. Hi Sweet Debra! Happy Anniversary!! I love the Certificate! Ackkkkk!! And your photos are just lovely as always!

As you mentioned, it gives pause to think how someone could give away or leave behind such a lovely Document. But, I KNOW my boys won't have a CLUE about such things when I go to the Great Beyond.......Some of us "Get it" or appreciate "IT" and some don't. I think though, when we purchase or treasure our finds, we ourselves honor their memory...........

Happy Anniversary and Happy (Early) New Year!

    Big Hugs and Love,
    Shell

  34. The sacrament of matrimony is really sacred especially to couples who decided to seal and to push through the relationship they have to the next level. Actually, I know a west palm beach divorce lawyer who also have the same sentiment when it comes to marriage, that's why if possible he urges the couple seeking for his service to fix things between the couple to save the relationship.

  35. What a lovely old marriage document you got there! I remember when I went to my tax fraud solicitors house and I found their old marriage document hanged in their living room. He told me that marriage makes you and you partner your relationship go stronger even though you got so many problems in your life, you should face it together.
