A Royal Powder Room

Hi Everyone, hope you had a wonderful Easter. We've met our St. Louis kids halfway for Easter dinner in Rolla, Missouri for the last several years. Since Erin is in real estate and works on the weekends, we get together for a fun lunch and then spend the afternoon hanging out.

It's been raining at a constant downpour here for the last week, windy and cool. Blah...can you believe I had to wear "cuddle duds" under my new linen pants for Easter?

To celebrate the Royal wedding this week I'm sharing a few British items that are commemorative. My powder room has "all things British", and my favorites are my vintage biscuit tins. The Brits are big on their "biscuits", what we would consider butter cookies or shortbread. Royals and weddings give rise to tons of collectible pieces.

This is a tin of Princess Elizabeth before she was crowned queen.

It was in such terrible condition with some large scratches,

 that I tried to minimize it by painting part of the horse.

(don't look too close!)

I believe this is Prince Phillip in Scottish regalia

The Prince Phillip tin.

A sweet little toffee tin;

love the tartan plaid and castles.

Another of my toffee tins with a Staffordshire soap dish,

English cottage, and my favorite Crabtree and Evelyn "Gardener's" line. 

A commemorative small plate for Charles on becoming the Prince of Wales.

Vintage Inspiration Friday #34 Inspired for Easter

Today I wanted to share with you a few of my special religious Easter pieces.

The old Easter Postcard Images are some of my favorites.

The crosses adorned with flowers and lilies,

inspired me to remake a florist's cross base

that I retrieved from my father-in-law's funeral last September.

It had been covered in lovely fall flowers,

so a few days later when we went back I took it home,

instead of letting it be thrown away.

I covered it in glue and then lightly pressed moss to cover it.

Then added two peace lilies and a cluster of green hydrangea and ivy.

Now, it blesses me each time I see it.

Antique crucifixes and prints are a few other things that I collect

which remind me of Easter.

These next two prints are on reverse mirrors

 that are setting on the buffet in the Dining Room.

(did you know, I just love lambs?)

And this old print of the last supper hangs in our Dining Room

I imagine he hopes he's not on the menu.

bunnies, kitties, and burlap...

My sis brought these extra darling bunny silhouettes

 over for me and the girls for Easter.

Love that bright pop of green grass!

Mine is the white one with the damask

(she knows me so well)

and there are two of the black ones.

The girls will love them!

Moving right along,

a few days ago I found this great little burlap luncheon cloth at Relics,

and put it out on the kitchen table.

Great little blue stripe

I guess it's kind of a mixture of linens really,

but evidently it had that "burlap" smell and feel!

 

Oh yeah....

that feels fabulous!

And in case you're horrified by cats on the kitchen table,

I can tell you there's no controlin' cats.

They may not do it in front of you,

but you can be sure

the moment you leave the house

they are doing whatever they want.

I thought I'd give an update on the Kitty Wars.

If you remember I took the above offender to the vet

and came home with some kind of "happy pill",

good attitude collars,

and pheromone pleasing plug ins.

So the good news is that it seems to be working.

yes, there are some very minor skirmishes,

but all in all, things have quited down substantially.

Spring Fever seems to be under control!!!!
