A Temporary No-Sew Table Runner

...or the "I'm lazy
and I don't want to sew this right now",
table runner.

Last week I was sharing with you all my love/hate relationship with my sewing machine. That I'm not too fond of sewing, but I find myself frequently needing a change-up in decor with pillows, table runners, curtains etc. And actually, my sewing machine is (a) over at the storage unit(s), (b) it's too cold to go hunting for it, (c) I'd have to bribe my hubby to go spend an hour or so messing with it. (Do any of these excuses sound reasonable?)

It All Starts in the Dining Room

I'm not sure why, but I always start my seasonal decor on the Dining Room Table. My choice for the centerpiece and tablerunner seem to sort of set the stage for the rest of the house. This year I fell in love with a burlap fabric my sweet friend Judy was working with in her Etsy Shop, 20 North Ora. She was creating tablerunners and I just had to have one.

I had Judy looking all over town trying to find more fabric to fit my table. I've threatened to paint this table more times than I can count, but my interim fix is to just cover up as much of the big brown wood top as possible. Anyway, Judy came through and I love how it turned out. I just put it on top of another raw burlap fabric piece and then gave it a stripe of red Tartan. (gotta have some plaid)

The ribbon isn't attached,
and I would like to find a wider one,
but for now I think it adds a little fun!

Last year I wanted Preserved Boxwood wreaths and topiaries, but never found them. So for something different this year I ordered 3 of the Preserved Boxwood Cones in cement vases to go inside the newer smaller windowbox. You can find them HERE.

Judy also sent along a sweet pillow, just right for my end arm chair.

Thank you so much, Judy!

For the chandy, I left the twiggy garland and removed the Fall leaves,
replacing them with faux red Winterberries,
and then tied on a little Tartan ribbon.

Decorating this year is proving to be a work in progress.
I started with the basics the week before Thanksgiving,
and I'm adding a little more each day.
Who knows, I might even have it done before Christmas!
(more coming in the Dining Room)

Burlap and Brown Transferware

two of my favorite things...

Hi Everyone, Happy Sunday!
It really IS a happy Sunday, as I'm back home from the hospital and want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart to all of you who left comments on my last post. Blogger wasn't updating some blogs last week, (I was just one of many) so I hope this one will show up on your readers, email, and blog lists.

I'll give you some photos of my latest Late Fall Vignette where I wanted to say a BIG Thank You to Sherry of No Minimalist Here who hosted a wonderful Give Away this Fall for a generous gift certificate to Antiques Lifestyle. I used my gift certificate to pick out this beautiful Hand Stenciled Burlap Tablerunner. You can find more like it at Laurie's beautiful Etsy Shop. Thank you so much Laurie and Sherry!

My Dining Room table is currently "under construction"
for my Thanksgiving Tablescape, which I'll be sharing with you this week.
So one of my Bergere Chairs in the Living Room had to make do.

Isn't that design amazing?!

I can't wait to get it on my table!

So, back to the Late Fall Vignette in the lower level sitting area
next to my French Doors, which let in the afternoon sunlight.

This was last Tuesday, you should see the amount of leaves out there now.

I gathered some of my Brown Transferware; platters, plates, sugars and creamers together to decide what I wanted to use for the Tablescape.

Just random bits and pieces of patterns...

I've been building my Tablescape Centerpiece with just naturals,
and here are some dried pods I was using.

I found the olive bucket on Decor Steals earlier this Fall.
It definitely was less expensive than any where else I had seen.

I was in the hospital Tuesday until Saturday night, and had lot's of tests run to see if we could understand where the blood clots are coming from and if there were any permanent problems from them. I've tried several blood thinning drugs, and we now feel like we have things under control. God has been gracious to me, as any one of them that was moving around in there could have caused a stroke, but it didn't happen. I may be going a little slower in blogging until I can get my self back, but the weekly parties won't change. Be sure and come by tomorrow morning, and throughout the week for The Marketplace.

You all are loved and appreciated,
thank you for the prayers and caring thoughts,
and thank you for being such good friends.

Everything's coming up...Sunflowers!

Now that August is upon us, I can safely call it "Late Summer", and late Summer always means Sunflowers to me. So here in the Dining Room I changed out the white Geraniums and the lighter tablerunner for my Frenchy Stripe tablerunner and the windowbox centerpiece full of happy little Sunflowers.

(does that sound too much like Bob Ross the 1970's painter with the big hair
from PBS, and his "happy little clouds...trees...mountains"?)

I found this wonderful Sunflower Botanical pillow and I fell in love. My other Sunflower pillow in needlepoint was lonely so this one works great to balance out the church pew.

It needed a darker pillow behind it to set it off, so the black and white teensy check came in from the Sunporch.

Even though I hate the heat of late Summer, I'm always excited when we get to August because that means Fall will be here soon. Yep, watch out Fall here I come!

I have this wonderful old metal flower stand in the Dining Room that I don't show often, but today it has a reproduction seed box on it with a Sunflower wreath ready to be hung up somewhere.

Love my giclee print in muted tones on canvas of the sheep.

See what I was doing last year with Sunflowers, Here and Here
