Vintage Valentine's Day Entry

Hi Friends, are you having a cold weekend? Wow, we are and some of our coldest weather of the year is still ahead of us. This last week or so I've been using Valentine's Day decorating to bring in a little sense of Spring. I've put away most of the evergreen stems and have concentrated on a few late winter florals that give a feeling of the warmer weather that will eventually come.

Every surface here doesn't get the Valentine's Day treatment,
but I really enjoy decorating the Entry. It's always light and bright
with a calming white background where the seasons and holidays really shine.

I've changed things up a bit since last year, but the basic elements have stayed the same.
The French-y white console, the round whitewashed antique mirror,
buffet lamp and clock are staples here in the Entry Hall.

Before Christmas I bought a few more paperwhite stems to make a fuller arrangement in the white iron urn. (I'm sorry, I looked for the link but I couldn't find it. I think they might be sold out for now.) It had been a smaller grouping, but the newly added stems make more of a statement.

I used the faux twig "wattle" type edging to help keep the stems in place. A red checked wire ribbon and gold paper ex voto gives the arrangement a touch of elegance. It's very similar to what I came up with last year, but I really loved the look, so it's here again this year.

The framed antique Valentine's Day postcard is another sweet element
that fits in perfectly in this vignette.

This antique cupid tin tray is very old and it fits perfectly here on the console
with the other romantic french-y pieces.

The little Lefton candy dish is another piece I use here each year.
At some point the little cupid lost a tiny bit of one wing, and I never located it.
If I turn it just right it's barely noticeable.

You may recognize my Moss Covered Heart that I made a while back,
but it's new this year here in the Entry. Since it's a visually darker piece
it needs a light/white background to be seen.

Here's a bit more Valentine fun...

Hope you'll come by Monday evening at 6:00 P.M.

  6. Debra, I expect we will have more cold weather in the months ahead as well. But if the sun comes out to play then I can hold on!
The little green moss heart is perfect hanging in the entrance. I like the organic feel of it.

  11. I don't remember seeing this view of your entry before. Those curtains are so fun! Your Valentine's decorations are perfect as well. As soon as I saw the candy box it brought back such fond memories of my childhood. I think I'll go to some antique stores this weekend with Valentine's on the brain. Maybe I'll get lucky and find something similar. Hope you have a wonderful weekend.
