Winter Lambs in the Dining Room

Hello Everyone,
Winter is showing up here with snow and cold temps for sure.
Not only cold temps but lots of wind that makes it chilly and shivery even indoors
as you look out and see the little birds on the feeder trying to grab a tiny bite
before heading back to their evergreen shelters.

After Christmas I still like to have some evergreens around the house.
The landscape is brown and dark against the snow, and only the holly shrubs
and evergreen trees and bushes that dot the yard are green.

I put away everything that was "Christmas" around the house
but kept the hollyberries and pinecones and used a few of my lambs
under the cloches here in the Dining Room.

I wanted to use a few of my old pieces of silver
to hold the lambs here on the buffet.
I think these are candy and condiment dishes that are a bit tarnished.

My larger lamb is in the tabletop conservatory
bedded down on a grapevine wreath with moss.

My bare Christmas tree with white lights is still in the Hearth Room
and I'm still using little evergreen trees around the house.
My antique wire plant stand holds my heavy ironstone tureen with pears,
my small lamb print with a faux evergreen tree and nest with holly ring.

(please excuse all the unattractive electrical outlets)

My favorite corner of the Dining Room
with my Little French Girl and Lamb Tureen.
I love using the winter fruit garland from Christmas through early spring.

My heavy concrete alter candlesticks have traded places
with the metal Italian basket.

I love the traditional look of using fruit garlands during the Holidays.
The basket is back on the Dining Room table filled with
faux hydrangeas and the other ironstone tureen is nestled
in the dough bowl with another winter fruit garland.

My neutral winter table look is
a table runner in Waverly Country House Toile Linen
layered on top of a linen grain sack fabric.
I often use 3 yard pieces of fabric and just fold them in half
for an easy tablerunner, but this one actually was sewn
by my mom this last year to make it look a little more "finished".
"thankyou Mom!"

Did you catch my last post of the January Cupboard?

Stay warm, friends!

  1. Happy Sunday Debra. I love that your sweet lambs out for winter and then they can transition right into Spring. That is a hopeful vignette that we will see Spring after the long winter days! I love the face on the bigger lamb on the grapevine wreath. So sweet. Have a great start to the new week. xoxo Kris

  2. Debra, I love sheep and lambs in decor. Yours are all such pretty ones and under glass they look so special. I feel like we are having a little spring weather today but it probably won't last long. I have already put my snowmen away after only a fleeting glance this January. We need more sweetness and pretty now..Stay well..xxoJudy

  3. I love the lambs, cloches and tabletop conservatory on your DR buffet! I'd love to have a few mercury glass votive holders similar to yours, they are so pretty. The fruit garlands are a nice touch, too. I am struggling with what direction I want to go in now for February to cheer me up because my winter green centerpiece has now bitten the dust. I still have my naked tree up but will likely take it down soon. Your winter look is very cheerful!

  4. Debra, your lambs are all wonderful in their cloches and nests!! We just took our tree down this past weekend, but we really enjoyed having the little twinkle lights on in the evenings over Christmas into January. I've been decorating slowly with some Valentine's decor. Anyway, I hope you are staying warm up your way and I was happy to feature your post at yesterday's Share Your Style #290. <3

    Happy weekend,
    Barb :)

  5. Beautiful winter styled cloches and nests! I love natural looking décor, I've removed all my natural green décor since Christmas but I'm in the process of giving my tiny office a bit of a revamp with winter décor. You've given me some lovely ideas, thank you!
