Thanksgiving Seed Box on the Baker's Rack

Hey Friends,  Happy November!

I think most of us who blog do so partly as a photo "diary" of sorts. As much as to share with you all what and how we're decorating our homes and what we're up to in life, we do blog as a way to remind our own selves about what our life looks and feels like through the seasons and the years.

Before each new season I like to go back through my posts of previous years to jog my memory of items, vignettes, and the feel of my decor. And as I've said before, I like to peek in on other blogger's archives and see what they were doing in past years. Pinterest is a great source, but if you want some real inspiration, take some time and go back through some of your favorite blogs with a label search, like "Thanksgiving" and  "Christmas", then see what amazing posts come up.

About seven years ago, I had an idea to create my own seed boxes. I had just bought an original one and spent more money than I'd intended. I realized I had a bunch of boxes the right size and shape and a lot of vintage seed package graphics. So I put them together with some Mod Podge and came up with a few fun ways to decorate with a vintage garden theme. I made one that had a more autumn feel.

I don't think I've used this one in a few years,
so I located it in a stack of vintage boxes and
filled it up with a few vintage Fall elements.

Vintage garden elements are good throughout the year, not just Spring and Summer.
Some of my favorite images are of Fall and Winter Gardens.

I added some micro lights to the box display, but they don't really do it justice.
The photos always come out looking too yellowish,
but it is really pretty at night.

My vintage turkey salt and peppers are getting a workout this year.
They've been flapping from the Holiday Cupboard
on over here to the Baker's Rack!

  2. Hmmmm, I love you going 'fishin' in your goodies. And, the seed boxes are one of the first images I put on my Pinterest account, way back when. I can't believe how fast time flies in the years since blogging or reading blogs. Thanks for the memories and the reminders to go scouring my bins and totes and come up with some fun vignettes! Hugs, Sandi

    1. Hi Sandi, I love hearing about you pinning those seed box images from forever ago. It's hard to believe that I purged and gave away so many things, but I still manage to pull something out that I haven't used for awhile. Hope you're having a great start to November! xo

  3. Debra, I remember when you first created that seed box. You did such a great job of it, and this one really looks great too. You're right - our blogs become our photo journals, and I often use the search box when I'm reading others' blogs, and even use it on my own when I'm searching for a photo that I can't remember when I used it. Great tip!

  8. Debra, I really enjoyed your post! Even though I am reading it after sharing it at last week's Share Your Style #325, it is timely (for me, for sure!). Love looking back at older posts for inspiration.

    Enjoy decorating for the holidays,
    Hugs,
    Barb :)
