Vintage Valentine Vignette

I've been trying to round up some of my Valentine's Day decor and realizing a box is likely hidden underneath a stack of boxes in my storage room. I know... story of my life these last 6 or so years. I know exactly what's missing, I just don't know where it is. So I'm using a few vintage cupid pieces that were easy to get my hands on in the china closet.

We've been at this house for almost a year, and Valentine's Day is the only holiday that I've not celebrated here. A year ago there was no decorating going on at either house. I was eyeball deep in packing boxes and bubble wrap.

These little porcelain pieces are probably from the 50's or 60's. Their detail is hand painted and oh-so-sweet and pretty. The only time of year that I use anything this "Romantic" is Valentine's Day.

One of my vintage postcards is of a little cupid,
so I thought it only fitting to work it into the cloche display.

I have this little vignette sitting on the Dining Room table.

Just look at those little lips and eyebrows.
Although it does appear they need a few "foundational" undergarments.

I seem to be lighting candles here every afternoon.
Sure makes it more cozy and home-y.
But I wouldn't leave this candle by itself,
since it is sitting a bed of moss.

A little more Valentine's Day Inspiration

Here's a lookback post from last year A Vintage Romance
and this post from a few years ago Share the Love

Hope you're having a wonderful week. Cold and light snow here, but nothing sticking to the streets. My husband just told me there are 4 deer in the front yard, (Wednesday evening at 10:00pm) so we watched them make their way through the back yards to the street behind. Even though we live in town we're down the street from a long "nature trail" that eventually finds it's way to the edge of town and opens to a large expanse of wooded land a few miles away. I imagine they had started their "hike" just after dark.

Hope to see you next Monday evening.

  5. I had to laugh about their "foundational garments". They are truly adorable.

  6. Just enough sweetness! I know what you mean about knowing you have it, just not sure where. In fact, seeing your compote reminds me of one I know I didn't purge......but not exactly sure where it is right now. I think I have things fairly organized and labeled, just haven't had enough curiosity to bring things back out yet. Happy to see January come to a close.....ours proved to be quite challenging healthwise for Mr. P, but hopefully on the upswing again.

  7. Yeah, me too. Looks like we all forget or misplace things. I just simply don't know where I stored them, or what box. I should put labels on them as I do the Christmas stuff.
I love your vignette and those cupids are darling and so is the urn. I haven't thought of anything just yet. You are very inspiring.
    Enjoy your weekend.

  8. Enjoyed your cupids very much; just reminded me of mine sitting on a shelf within reach. It just occurred to me that I enjoy them a lot more than the Valentine red glitter sign I bought to put in the middle of my Christmas wreathe! I love old figurines and have way too many of them. They need to be "vignetted"!
