Light and Bright Fall Entry

I'm really loving this Entry Hall at the new house. It's light and bright and traditional with just a hint of pattern in the wallpaper. It's so easy to decorate and fun to try out new elements. This Entry Hall is always flooded with light no matter the weather, so for early October I've wanted to keep that lighter look. As we head into later October and November I'll bring out the deeper colors and prints, but for now I found a couple of British vintage prints with a lighter palette that had been in my bathroom at our previous house.

The new pottery vase I found early this Fall is filled with faux and preserved leaf stems, Hydrangeas, and berries. It's had several renditions since I bought it, first with white Sunflowers, then adding in Fall leaves and Hydrangeas. I like a natural "just picked and carried an armload of foliage inside" look.

I haven't been able to find any real Bittersweet,
and every time I see some in other blogs I get a teensy bit envious.
I called one of the large nurseries in town and he said
this wasn't a good year for it.
boo-hoo.

so a little faux will have to do.

A couple of my velvet pumpkins and an orange satin one
add some Autumn color to the mix on the tabletop.

Give me an English or French landscape with a few cows and sheep
and I'll love it forever, even (especially) if it's in an old tattered, chippy frame.

...and for a pet blooper pic,
my little sweety Miss Jenkins who doesn't like her photo taken.
She's the diabetic baby that I've been giving 2 shots daily for the last several years.
She's getting older, but she knows when her shot is due and comes around.
She follows me around while I'm taking photos,
but runs away when I try to get her to show her sweet face.

Can I just say again how much I love October?
The changes in the leaves seem later this year,
I guess because it was so warm,
who knows but I'm certainly ready!

Hope to see you Monday Evening at 6:00

  4. Hi Debra!
Your entryway looks lovely! The fall arrangement is beautiful, and I really like those vintage prints and their chippy frames. Our fall color is yet to come. I'm really hoping the unusual late hot temperatures we had and dry conditions don't ruin it. Thanks for sharing at Homestyle Gathering!
