Fall Shopping at the Vintage Markets

Fall is my favorite time of the year to hit the vintage shops and markets. My sister and I try to get together every couple of weeks and see what's out there. We need to have our "junk fix". We have a lot of vintage shopping spots in the area, but usually, the one we head to first is The Vintage Peddler. It's a big warehouse type space that has been open a year, and is now pretty much at vendor capacity. Some of the best dealers in the area have congregated there, so they are constantly changing things up and bringing in new merchandise. I always leave with an armload of goodies!

I really enjoy going to a furniture store, home store, or design center, but nothing revs me up and inspires me more than a fun vintage shop or market. I love to get other people's fresh ideas and thoughts for the season. OK, how fun are these old prints on cardboard from the 40's and 50's. The script font is perfect, and this fun idea elevates an old paint-by-number scene or worn print. I've taken so many prints on cardboard that were damaged and touched them up with paint to make them usable once again.

I've put my order in with my sis for a vinyl Silhouette "Welcome"  or "Hello Fall" for a pumpkin. These are faux pumpkins, but I think it would work great on a real one too. So CUTE!

adorable appliqued wool acorn pillow.

They use a lot of architectural pieces in their spaces for great backdrops and drama.

Fun chalkboard from an antique Cheval Mirror frame.

Love this black floral Botanical Poster. I found a couple of great Black Botanical Canvases that I'm using in the Kitchen Sitting Area, and I'm sharing those later this week.

Some of these pics are from last week, late in August, so they still had a little "Summer" going on. No matter the season, you can't go wrong with buckets filled with dried Hydrangeas.

This is such a fun idea for a Fall theme with an old bird cage. We found one of these cute little crows decked out for Fall, so he'll make an appearance soon.

A lodge-y, camp look just goes perfectly with Fall.

These next two pics are from the girls at Leola's in Ozark

LOVE this old wrought iron Flower Cart filled with pumpkins and Fall Goodies.

I've been working on my front porch this weekend. I found some mums so I've replaced the worn out Impatians and two new orange pillows for the "married metals" bench are out there. Next is the door basket changed up for Fall.

Praying for all those in the path of Irma.
Please take care of yourselves.

  1. I see so many cool things here - I would have to use a lot of restraint. Fall is a time when I love to update what I have, and purge some of the pieces that no longer make me feel the way they did a few years ago. I, too, love the cart, and I really could eat up so those chalkboards, especially the one surrounded by wood.

Thanks for the little tour, Debra.

  2. What wonderful shopping. I can't wait to stop in to the Peddler's place when I go through Springfield next time.

  3. Hi Debra,
Hope you are doing well. One of my favorite things to do is to go junkin and antiquing with my Sister. I would love to browse through a shop like this one and it would be tough to pass up all those goodies.
    Love the looks you create.

    hugs,
    Sissie

  4. Nice, nice and nice! I love the acorn applique pillow and the botanical prints - anxious to see yours. Sister fun!
I worked on my porch on Friday...sold a base hutch at the store yesterday so it looks like we'll be moving furniture this week in our booths...(not complaining!). Had some sister fun too on Saturday - all 3 Panoply and one from Beaufort SC came to escape Irma - we priced jewelry all afternoon, while the Beaufort sis 'shopped' our stash. :)
When I watched the path of the storm yesterday, the tropical storms look to be as widespread as TN, even saw MO in one scenario, but that's since changed. I wish it was over - so much drama - and Harvey victims probably feel all but forgotten now. :(

  7. Lots of fun ideas Debra. I love the acorn pillow and wouldn't mind making one. I recently picked up a wool patchwork jacket at a thrift. I planned on cutting it up for projects. Lots of eye candy and inspiration!
    hugs,

  9. Debra - that looks like so much fun! I too like to shop for junk. Every once in awhile, my hubby and I will go to estate sales. The older the stuff, the better.
