Sunflower Botanical Cloche

I have several cloches that I keep on the Buffet in the Dining Room, and even though they usually have the same basic elements of nests, birds, and woodsy things, I like to give them a mini update with florals and seasonal elements.

...and since it's mid-summer they needed to have a little change up with some Sunflowers. I can never get a good shot of the cloches where they sit, because the windows put out a lot of glare (as you can see). So I move them over to the DR table for a better angle.

If you look closely you can see I started out with a different image of a Sunflower, shown here on the buffet. But it was too big, and it showed in the pic above. So I decided to use the one from my 2017 Cavallini "Botanicals" calender that I have in my studio. It's on a heavier paper stock and it's smaller, so it fits inside the glass dome easier.

Let's see, it was for November, so since I massacred that page I'll have to ad lib and tape up the calender part to the previous page. Gee, the things we do for decor.

I love Cavallini Calenders and try to have at least one each year. The monthly pages make great prints, and are usually just the perfect size for display. Here's another little cloche with some Black-Eyed Susans tucked in the mix. (a moss covered basket, vintage clay pot, and birdie). As you can see the tablerunner has been changed up to my red Country French fabric, and a new TableTop vignette is in the works.

A little Staffordshire creamer gets elevated in this little cloche.
(it appears I have a fixation with moss)

  1. Beautiful cloches, Debra! Wow, you have such an artistic eye and designer's touch. I may copycat at least one of your cloche ideas. I NEVER change the content of my cloches and you have inspired me. Wishing you the best with your upcoming medical appt. and MIL's move. You have a lot going on and I hope you feel more yourself very soon. Take care :)

  2. Hope all goes well with your M-I-L's move. It isn't easy making the decision, but for my husband's parents it has been a good decision for them. Good luck with your doctor's appointments and hope you get a diagnosis you can get help with.

  7. I love what you do with a cloche Debra! The sunflower image is so sweet. It seems as though lately it's harder to find glass cloches until I saw a few the other day at HomeGoods. I still have a few and now you've inspired me to get them out, dust them off and create something beautiful.
Debra, I'm so sorry you are going through such a terrible time with your health and I'm praying the doctors will be able to diagnose and treat you.
In the meantime, just be your own beautiful self and keep the faith.

    hugs,
    Sissie

  9. You have such taste and style - and your cloche vingnette is perfect mid-summer awesomeness!

I am so sorry about your pain - I too have an A.I./rhum arth problem- and it's affected quality of life so much - it is mainly in my upper knuckles and is spreading fast. I am sending up prayers for your relief. If you can avoid the following: shellfish, eggplant, red wine, too many glutons. Don't eat sourdough breads, keep caffeine intake low, and take ant-acids. This may help your comfort and inflammations. It does mine.

PS Sorry I have been MIA - I have missed blogdom so much! I did a post today about my only granddaughter's first birthday on Saturday. : - ) I can't believe she's a year already!!

    Hugs. ♥

  10. I love the cloche and the new header. I'm sorry you weren't up for helping them with your mother in law. That has to be so frustrating. I hope you can get some answers.

  12. Love how you styled your cloches. It's fun to see the different things under them. So glad to hear that you'll be seen by a specialist soon. I have an auto immune disease and it's so helpful to have a proper diagnosis and treatment! I haven't been feeling well lately because of menopausal arthritis in my hands and wrists. I thought I was done with aches and pains now that I'm on Remicade but this is caused by hormonal imbalance (supposedly). So I wake up feeling stiff, sore, and dragging. I feel older than my age. Ugh! So, I empathize with your health problems. I hope you find relief soon!

  13. Debra,
What wonderful cliches! I have a clochr addiction myself a Dan running out of room for them. Does that stop a cloche lover? NOT.
I am so sorry to learn you are dealing with RA and the whole Auto Immune set of problems. It took years before the sixth rheumatologist finally got it right in diagnosing me. In addition to RA, disc problems, and an auto immune deficiency, I was diagnosed with ankylosing spondylitis. It's a very rare mutation form of arthritis - inherited. I'd never heard of it, but instantly I knew I got it from my mom. At that time she'd just gotten home after back surgery - the ones at the bottom of her spine had begun to fuse together, squeezing a major nerve in between them. The fusion of those spinal bones is one of the main symptoms of Ankylosing Spondilitius. What a shock that diagnosis was!
I will keep you in my prayers and truly hope that your Dr will be able to find a way to treat your pain.
    Hang in there!

  14. Debra, this may be an older post, but I love the sunflowers and birds in your cloches and I am enjoying seeing all the pretties in your mirrors!!! I am on the lookout for a bigger china hutch and I love that you can put many items on top of yours behind the Federal finial and scroll work. <3 Anyway, happy to have featured your post at last week's Share Your Style #312 for you. :)

Enjoy getting ready to decorate for fall,
    Hugs,
    Barb :)
