Patriotic Tabletop Vignette

My Dining Room table hasn't changed since early June and the Summer Home Tour, so I thought I'd do a quick change up for the July 4th Holiday. All the elements were within easy reach, and I still have my indigo ticking table runner here, so I grabbed my vintage flags and some red transfer ware.

The mega lantern from Pottery Barn is back along with it's trusty French Wagon sidekick.

My collection of vintage "Cemetery Flags" are in a glass hurricane cylinder,
hiding behind the wagon.

My little French Faience covered vegetable, some mismatched red transfer ware, and a couple of red stripe grainsack teatowels are elevated in the wagon bed.

Each year I feel like I need to explain to some that what I and other vintage decor peeps use are vintage and antique flags, that are "retired" collectibles, not a government approved and issued flag still in service. This one is a 48 star flag, so it would have been made before 1959. I love and respect the American Flag and find it a Patriotic expression using it in vintage decor.

My Dining Room is to the right of the Entry,
so you get a full Star Spangled View when you come through the door.

Hope you're having a wonderful extended 4th Holiday week,
Have Fun!

  5. Debra, your table looks festive for the 4th or any patriotic holiday. I like to leave my patriotic things out from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Your wagon is so cute and transitions from season to season. Hope you enjoyed a festive 4th!
