Magazine Copy Cat Challenge

You know I love a good challenge...
and magazine inspiration is at the top of my list.
is hosting a magazine copy cat challenge.

Julie from Idyllhours reminded me last week
that I had this old rake that I had found a few years ago.
It's been around for a few leaf seasons and I actually use it when I have to.
I had a few twigs of bittersweet left
and a little faux cedar from a Christmas branch.

my original attempt was too sparse,
so I added in some Fall leaves to help out.

sorta blah...

So here it is,
and I think for Christmas I'll just take out the bittersweet and leaves,
then add more evergreens with red berries and holly.

This is where it ended up.
Love the way the light shines through the leaves.

Now run by Debbie's Party and see the rest of the fun!

I'm also joining in on these parties:

  1. WOW, I am so going to try this ever so cute and clever idea! I have spied that mag, but never bought it as I am a terrible gardener. Thank you so very much Debra for joining in. I am having a BLAST! I look forward to next months and all the Holiday ideas we can copy.

  2. Hi Debra... I think your old broom rake looks fantastic!... thanks for the mention of mine... I love Country Gardens and couldn't wait to make mine, especially when I found my daddy's old broom rake... it will be fun to decorate them for the different Seasons and holidays... my snowberries pooped out too, so mine is a little sparse now too, maybe I will add some leaves like yours... also, I LOVE that plaid throw in your chair!!!... xoxo Julie Marie PS Thanks for visiting my Halloween posts... I get a bit carried away this time of year!

  10. Great job! Love the whole idea.

(I'm unable to link to the parties just by clicking on the photos; seems the HTML code isn't there. Are they listed anywhere else? Would love to swing by, especially the Tuesday's Treasures. Haven't seen that one.)

  11. You "got" it dear girl. I have more old rakes than I have cat hair on my clothes so I might could do that if I copied you and Julie-Marie.

  13. You did a great job copying the original. I can hardly tell them apart! That's a cute idea to decorate a rake for the Fall since it's really a Fall icon with all the leaves.

  15. I remembered that picture from somewhere. I love that magazine, even though my thumb isn't green either. I thought the shed on the front was a clever idea, too. Your rake turned out great. Maybe I will try that next year. Happy Halloween!

  20. I like this because it looks so natural, Debra! Great spot you chose to put it, too. I love when you can pull decorating off with things that are already around the house ~ whether from nature or the craft room!
