French Country Styling on the Baker's Rack

As we head towards August the color scheme sees some subtle changes around here. I like to bring in the deeper colors of golds and greens; more neutral tones. Sort of "harvest-y" colors. In the Spring and Summer the kitchen sitting area is all about bright fresh color and a garden feel; now I'm ready for something different.

I brought out the faux pears a couple of weeks ago and love how they reflect the colors of this time of year.

I wanted to go with a more neutral feel with some ironstone, transferware, and a few vintage breadboards. I herded a few of the cows together to go with the vintage pastoral  print.

These porcelain cows are very old, but don't have any markings.

Earlier this Spring I found another smaller fishing creel basket that's very similar to the one I bought last Fall.

This is a pic that I took last Fall of the first basket that has a canvas strap across the top.
I hadn't had a chance to do any clean up yet in this pic.

I had it styled for Fall at that  time;
(I'm not decorating yet for Fall)

I used a light stain to give the wicker a little luster.
Right now it's tucked under an end table in the Living Room.

At some time I'd like to try to stack these two wicker baskets.
I think they would look wonderful on top of a cupboard.

Isn't the label on these wine bottles adorable. They are from a local winery, Lambs and Vines in Diggins, Missouri. Here is my original post from our visit several years ago.

I love this photo from the winery's website.

...I'm getting better every day,
looking forward to the cooler weather and beauty of Fall.

  3. Oh wow, I am loving the neutral changes. The pears are perfect for very early summer transitioning to fall, obviously still a while away, yet summer is rapidly coming to a close. It's a hard time to decorate in my opinion, but your neutral French Farmhouse theme is great. It really reminds me of late summer when there is still gardening to do, but just the very first hints of gold start to appear in the trees and foliage. Love it!

  7. Happy to see your mojo sparked, Debra! You're right - the pears are perfect for right now, with plants getting little freckles of brown from the sun, the greens going muted. Those cows! Oh my! The older the better, and that picture from the winery of the sheep - now wouldn't that look neat on one of those canvases you had in a sponsored post?!
So far, the urge to go more sunwashed hasn't hit me, I guess because the rain has really spurred lots of growth in the garden, but I am thinking about late summer...so I'll be there soon.
Continued prayer, light and love being send your way!
