Summertime Seashell Vignette

Since it's still Summer, I wanted to try to use my antique Blue Willow Transferware Tureen here on the Entry Hall Console. I've had it out with some other "blues" for my Patriotic decor so, I hunted down some of my shells to replace the summertime potpourri.

There's only a small window here for me to use Shell Decor. It has to be after the July 4th decor has being packed away, and before I get the itch for "Pre-Fall" goodies. If you are a regular around here you'll know that I start thinking "Fall" during August. I'm not a fan of the Summer heat, especially when the flowers are starting to fade and I'm counting the days till I can safely put out a pumpkin or two.

I had some random shells left over,
so I loaded up one of my smaller cloches to add to the console top.

I've kept the moss covered initial "O" and my Pottery Barn urn with the faux Paperwhites. I know Paperwhites are thought of around Christmas, but I love their delicate small flower which reminds me of tiny orchids.

I like to keep this spot changed up frequently to set the mood for
the subtle changes in the time of year. I often have a small vintage print,
to echo the changing seasons.

I like to be able to make those changes
without having to completely start over on the tabletop surface.

So my Buffet Lamp I bought last year and my clock are staples here.

We don't make it to the beach or seaside very often,
since we're pretty much located right in the middle of the US.
I enjoy the beach, but I'm always happy just to get to the Lake,
or walk through the rocky riverbottoms where the trout are swimming.

Here are a few pics of my vintage bottles with Seashell Tops
that I made a few years ago. You can see the full post HERE.

Please don't ask me where they are...
I saw them back in the early Spring,
but now I can't tell you which box they're still in.

Have a wonderful weekend,

  4. Debra, love your shells and celebrating the shore after the 4th. Your comment on the bottle cracks me up - I can relate. I thought of you this week, knowing your love of Fall. It's all I can to keep from opening the Fall Cottage Journal issue that arrived this week....I want to so badly! I still have other summer issues of mags lying around, though, so I'm saving it for a special sitting...when it's not 100° and plants screaming to be watered! Happy Saturday.

  5. Your summer vignette looks so pretty! I love the bottles with the shells on top. I'm looking forward to Fall but unfortunately, it will be a while before it feels like it here where I live. It stays warm here all the way into October!

  7. Debra, you have some beautiful shells! I don't have any large ones or a star fish. Love them nestled in you tureen! Again, I love your bottle stoppers. I've got to make some. Next year probably because I'm pulling out the watermelons and sunflowers for Aug.
    hugs,
    Jann

Like you, I'm ready for Autumn decor and Autumn weather!
It doesn't help that the Cottage Journal Autumn Magazine is now on my bedside table, either!
Gorgeous vignette on your entry console table!

  14. Hi Debra, here is a fact you probably don't know. I have your posts come into my in-box so I read every one but, don't ask me why, I don't often comment. Do you do that? I have special writers and photographers that I really adore and read them every time a new post is put out but just don't take the time to comment. I was just reading your last post and it dawned on me that the only time I comment to you is when you talk about your health. It makes me feel such empathy, I guess that is why I do , but that is going to change because I love all your decor and your pretty photos and I need to tell you so. I grew up in beach country in California but now live in the mountains and do not have very many shells but they look so pretty and do remind me of summer that I am going to start a collection, but, you are right, fall is the best and just around the corner..Happy Thursday..Judy
