First Glimpse of "Spring"

Happy Leap Day!!

Since tomorrow is March, and Easter is coming early this year, I thought I'd get started on bringing a few Spring Things out of the tubs and boxes. This is just my starting place... on the Dining Room table, which is usually where all my seasonal decorating begins.

Don't look now, but this is what happens
when you don't pick up your camera for a couple of weeks...
you get dust "bunnies" on your lens!

I grabbed my faux Majolica Cauliflower Teapot and a faux Majolica Bunny Pitcher
to group with my vintage Fitz and Floyd fois bois Raspberry Platter.
(I have a lot of "faux" stuff around here)

I have several "Faux" Majolica pieces, but they're still sweet and Spring-y,
even if they're not the real thing.

I've kept this heavy wrought iron basket on the table since I repainted it last year.
It has the "presence" to compete with the size of the table and the ceiling height.
I just change out the ribbon and add a few seasonal florals
to the Ivy and Hydrangeas that are already here.

...right now I have a large nest with decorated eggs.

While going through decor boxes I found my lampshades for the chandy.
They're a mossy, taupe-y, goldish green,
and they soften it up a bit to look a little more cottage-y.

OK, I'm just getting started on Spring...
do you have a jumping off spot too?

xoxo,

  1. Everything looks so pretty, Debra. Your dining room is always wonderful in this house and the last. I always start on my front porch which is what I did today. Definitely feeling inspired. :)

  2. I love your majolica, faux or not. That nest in the basket is really cool too - love the feathers decorating the eggs. Oh my goodness - if I could just get focused! I start on one thing and end up doing 10 more, totally unrelated. My sunroom is usually my springboard, but today it was "I think I'll get my faux forsythia branches out...oh, wait, it's a nice day outside, I'll water my indoor plants outside...ooh, that bunny from last year needs his ear epoxy glued...back inside - need to windex the tabletop....oh the fan blades look dusty...windex again...." on and on it goes, pretty much on a daily basis. Good thing we got this extra day today - I needed it! :)
    Have a great week, Debra.

  3. Debra, I love your faux Majolica! I'm always thinking I'll buy some and then think, "Do I need any more stuff?" But it's so pretty in the Spring. Your basket is one of my favorites. It's country and simple but has so much presence. Your dining room looks beautiful, as always!

  5. Our home is so ripped right now---if you call canvas floor cloths--a walk in the park, I gbuess we are doing spring. We do have seeds growing in the kitchen. And I have two bunnies on the table, waiting to go outside when it stops snowing....But I enjoyed your spring tips in your lovely dining room, sigh....lol, Sandi

  6. I like your "faux" majolica items. I used to have some of that myself when I decorated with a lot of color. They certainly blend in nicely for some Spring time cheer. I can't believe it's already March!

  10. Very pretty and springy, Debra! I love that little pitcher with the bunnies. Such a great vignette to start off with. I need to get up to the attic and get my Spring stuff down. I've got some ideas going through my head and am looking forward to seeing how they look in reality. Of course, we have snow showers in the forecast, so it might help to make it feel springy inside!

  15. What a pretty arrangement, Debra! I am always inspired by what you create! I had to laugh about the dust bunnies...if I don't put my glasses on, I don't even see dust...that goes for wrinkles, too lol!

  19. I love your springboard. So cute. The little bunny is adorable. I love the faux majolica. The real thing is gorgeous too but so pricey. It's great to see you feeling more yourself. I'm so glad it is March.
