A Little Valentine Chaos

Hello Friends,
Hope you're having a "Sweet" Valentine's Weekend!

Now that I'm feeling better, I made the commitment
to get busy on going through the rest of the boxes in the storage room.
Can I say I'd rather be doing so many other things...?

But I have found a few of my little decor pieces that as yet had been hidden.
One is this very old oval tray with a cupid and young lady.
It was all the rage in the teens and twenties to depict fair young maidens,
who were commonly known as "Nymphs".

Many famous paintings of that era had dancing, swimming, singing,
lounging, ogling, cavorting beauties known as "nymphs".

My cavorting, ogling, and dancing days are in the rear view mirror,
so I'll just enjoy this little piece of fantasy here on the Entry Console.

I've been digging through boxes of "Silver",
and don't know what I'm going to do with it all.

(sorry, I guess the leopard print ribbon doesn't really "go" with dancing nymphs,
but it was there first so it's staying for a bit.)

I found this little set of bud vases,
so here they are with some sweet pink roses.

I'm making headway on organizing,
but it takes me a lot longer than I'd like.
Hubbs helped this morning to cut down some boxes
and get a few things put away.
I have one whole wall with shelving,
so that's going a long way to get a handle on it all.

In the meantime, I'm finding a few things I've been looking for.
Like an iron flower container that I'd hunted for at Christmas.
I couldn't find it anywhere,
and I was kicking myself if it had gotten away from me.
No, just in the bottom of a box marked "Basement Decor".
Story of my recent life.

And, if you're looking for a romantic film
full of French Eye Candy,
then watch "A Little Chaos" with Kate Winslet and Alan Rickman.
you will love the beauty of the Gardens of Versailles.

  5. Glad you're feeling so much better, but trust you'll continue to be wise and take care of yourself. Decorating and fluffing can be quite therapeutic, I think. Your table vignettes are always filled with so many interesting and unique goodies...so pretty for this Valentine's Day.

  7. I have to add my well wishes and glad you are feeling better. I thought would take me forever to get stronger after surgery but my old constitution decided to kick in and am off and running again. So sorry you have been ill. That's the pits isn't it? I still get tired much quicker but think that might have to do with being 75, just maybe. Your lovely entry table is looking quite fancy and holidayish. Love that mirror, your tray and the bud vases with roses are gorgeous. ENjoy. HOpe you had good Valentines Day.

  10. I never knew the history of "nymphs" before. Glad to hear that you're finding things that you couldn't find before and are making some progress around your home. I enjoy watching movies set back in those times. I just watched one yesterday on HBO that I loved! They are so relaxing and I love how they take you back to a simpler time.

  12. Your vignettes are the loveliest I've seen. I didn't know the history of nymphs before, interesting. My favorite film to watch are those about older times and even read that style of books too. Glad your finding things and are feeling better.

  13. I'm glad you're are feeling better. I love the nymphs. I had no idea that was all the rage but that explains a lot of the pretties I've inherited. I hate when I find something after the holiday is over. So annoying.
